During the congress, met eminent personalities from all over the world.

The exhibition at the Congress was useful to know about some new trends in pharmacy world over. There were many useful scientific sessions which definitely enriched the knowledge. I have collected some useful educational material which I am sharing with students & colleagues.Overall, attending the Congress was a satisfying experience.

At Community Pharmacy in Lisbon

With some Indian delegates

At the Poster Session

Visit to Community Pharmacy in Istanbul:
I visited one Pharmacy in Istanbul, important features noted are mentioned below.

  • Minimum area required to open pharmacy is 35 sq.mt
  • Arrangement of medicines was alphabetical & as per dosage form.
  • Pharmacy owner should be pharmacist.
  • Presence of pharmacist is compulsory but sometimes pharmacist may not be present in pharmacies.
  • Education was 4 years degree in pharmacy & now it is 5 years.
  • Ministry of health controls the pharmacy practice.
  • Till now, chain pharmacies could not establish their presence & there was resistance from the pharmacists’ association when foreign chains tried to enter.
  • Many patients expect pharmacist to give advice & dispense medicines instead of going to doctors.
  • Many prescription drugs are sold without prescriptions.
  • Patient counseling, clinical measurements are not common yet.
